The inspiration for The Blu Stuff came while I was cleaning the hull after my first season of boating on Lake Pepin, Minnesota. The product I was using came with safety warnings to wear gloves and mask.  This made me instantly concerned about the harm the chemicals were causing the boat, the lake water, my hands and my lungs. I checked with some local Marinas for recommendations on what they use and they recommended some products but with the same warnings;   be very careful not to breath this in or get this on your skin or clothing.  This just didn’t feel right to be using these toxins near the lake water.   

I started testing every available natural product the market but was unable to find something that removed the grime and mildew at the bottom of my boat.  I had to spray product, scrub, and rinse over and over again and the boat hull was never completely clean.   

That’s when I decided to make my own boat cleaner – one that would be safe for me and the environment but would still remove mold, mildew, rust, scum line and algae. Over the next eight years I researched natural cleaning ingredients and concocted hundreds of different mixtures until I finally had a formula that is all-natural and works great.

I started sharing The Blu Stuff with local marinas, neighbors and friends, and they were amazed at how well it worked. Soon I was making batches of The Blu Stuff in my garage and filling seasonal requests from friends and marinas. My search for the perfect boat cleaner grew into Blu Products LLC., and now I produce and distribute thousands of batches of The Blu Stuff every year.
